  • 1 medium-sized onion, finely chopped
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) of crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon of dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon of dried rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (adjust to your preferred level of spiciness)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil for sautéing
  • Optional: 1 can (14 ounces) of diced tomatoes for added texture
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons of tomato paste for depth of flavor

Instructions
 

  • Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil until fragrant.
  • Brown ground beef, breaking it into pieces.
  • Stir in dried herbs and red pepper flakes, toasting for 1-2 minutes.
  • Pour in crushed tomatoes (and tomato paste for richness), reduce heat, and let it simmer.
  • Allow sauce to simmer for 20-30 mins, season with salt and black pepper.
  • Pour the seasoned ground beef over cooked spaghetti noodles.
